About Me
My current work examines ways to improve opportunities for all children to succeed, regardless of their socioeconomic background. This involves investigating the factors that influence cognitive and non-cognitive development in children. My research also contributes to understanding the socioeconomic determinants of mental health and well-being, as well as the economic impact of mental health disorders.
My research findings have been featured in various media outlets and platforms (such as The Conversation and Indo Media). This has enabled me to disseminate my research to a broader audience in both academic and public settings.
I received my PhD in Economics from the University of Adelaide in 2020 and was awarded the Dean’s Commendation for Doctoral Thesis Excellence. I also hold a Master (with Distinction) and Bachelor (Honours) degrees in Economics from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Prior to joining Monash, I was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Queensland.
